On this Memorial Day lets remember..

Memorial Day, when we remember those who have given their lives for freedom.

Let’s remember the men and women who donned a uniform and stepped on the field of battle but lets not forget that they are not the only ones who have fought for freedom or made sacrifices in securing freedom.

Lets also remember:
The families who have sent loved ones off to war.
Those who left their limbs and sanity on that battlefield.
Those who never stepped on a battlefield but lost their lives and freedom in the struggle.
Those who never picked up a gun but fought the war peacefully through word and deed.

Our freedom comes not just from those who died or were injured but from everyone of us who fights against oppression and tyranny.  It is our combined efforts that bring us freedom.

Some people really rub me the wrong way

Rant time!

I have to wonder about some people.  Three types in particular.

Type I-The world revolves around me

Okay we all have a sense of the world that places us at the center and everything else is external.  I suppose you could cal it a form of self awareness.  But most of us understand that we are not the axis that the world spins around.  We adapt and compromise to the things outside of us.  People who think the world should adapt to them really annoy me.  If you think the rules of the world apply to everyone else and not you-grow up!

Type II-But they do it this way over there

So what.  If you are over here what does what they do over there have to do with you?  If you are so enamored of how things are done ‘over there’ then just get to stepping.  Go on over there and stop trying to make people over here follow along behind people over there.  Your choice leave here and go there or grow up!

Type III- The empty headed sponge

Okay come on you must have at least one functioning brain cell dedicated to logic reason and original thought.  It annoys me when people parrot stupidity just because they hear someone else say it.  Repetition of stupidity does not make it any more intelligent second time around.  The more you want to argue about it, the stupider you look.

Today I have had to deal with all three types and my patience is pretty much exhausted.

The things you can learn watching a rerun.

I still remember a lot of the shows from my childhood with fondness and thanks to Hulu, I can watch them all over again.  I started rewatching one I loved as a child, The Big Valley (Yes I did love westerns).  I started with season one and figured I might as well start from the first episode and I have one question.  Where the hell did Eugene Barkley come from?! or get off to? or….

Okay I know who all the Barkley kids are Jared, Nick, Heath Audra and…where the hell were they hiding Eugene?  In all the time I watched I never even heard of Eugene!  Wonder what else I don’t know?
